Sorry in advance for the long description, I have a lot to say about this one
This painting is a haunting yet vibrantly surreal exploration of life, death, and the mysteries that lie between.
At the center lies an ouroboros (a serpent devouring it's own tail) encircling a singular, all-seeing eye. This is meant to symbolize eternity and the continuous cycle of existence.
The central eye contrasts the other floating eyeballs scattered throughout the ethereal void. This illustrates the idea that each of us can only perceive the world through our own individual perspectives. We may empathize with the views and opinions of others but we can never fully see through their eyes—just as interpretations of this painting will vary from person to person.
The skulls, paired with butterflies, represent the delicate balance between mortality and the voyage of life itself. The butterflies show the ephemeral nature of our existence.
The flowers blooming behind the skulls and eyeballs each hold their own symbolic resonance. Hydrangeas, like the butterflies, refer to spiritual growth and patience, reminding us that personal development occurs at it's own pace. No one is ever ahead of us or behind us, as there is no race to death. Daffodils represent new beginnings, hope and optimism. The ability to look forward to what we may become. Embrace change. Poppies, often associated closely with death, symbolize the eternal life of the soul. We will never know the mysteries of the afterlife until our respective times come.
This painting as a whole concentrates on the interconnectedness of all things; where life, death, and everything in between coexist in a fragile, yet complicated web. As you view this piece, reflect on your place within this eternal cycle and find meaning in the journey of existence. Acknowledge the ever-present force of entropy that shapes and transforms all that is.
