How Do You Like Your Fries?
Artist: Lexi Bruno
Year: 2020
Dimensions: 6x8"
Medium: Acrylic and oil-based marker on canvas
On the surface this just looks like a painting of smiley french fries. At a deeper level, I often feel alone in a rooms filled with people. I become anxious and feel like everyone is looking at me like these fries; waiting for me to screw up. The truth is, most people aren’t paying attention; they’re too caught up in their own worlds to care.
It’s a reminder that in the grand scheme, not much truly matters, and that can be both freeing and daunting. The title is in reference to those godforsaken icebreakers from school—“What’s your favorite shape of french fry?” My brother in Christ, I do not care.
